Audiovisual works contain both a sound and a visual component
The Copyright Act defines “audiovisual works” as “works that consist of a series of related images which are intrinsically intended to be shown by the use of machines or devices such as projectors, viewers, or electronic equipment, together with accompanying sounds".
What can be registered with the Copyright House Department of Audiovisual Copyright Registration?
The following audiovisual works can be registered:
- Motion pictures
- Films
- Videos
- Broadcasts
- Music videos
- Selfie videos
- Audiovisual literary works
- Slide shows
- Courses
- Video games
- Movies
- TV Shows
- Animations
Preparation before registration of audiovisual works
- For large files, compress them to a level where all the audiovisual elements are still recognisable
- Put all the slideshow images or the video/film in a specific folder on your computer
- Give the folder a clear descriptive name.
- ZIP the folder by right-clicking on the folder name
- Save the folder and ZIP file as a backup on a USB stick
- Create your Copyright House account
- Log into your secure registration area
- Register your artwork and upload the video/film or ZIP file
- Download the the audiovisual work's certificate of registration and store it in the same folder as the registered work on your device and USB stick

- Logging into your Secure registration area
- Following the steps of registration
- Uploading the audiovisual work into your account
- Downloading the certificate of registration
